Windows Me/98/95 Dial-Up Instructions


1. Double-Click (left mouse) the My Computer icon on your desktop.




2. Win 98/95 users, skip to Step 3 - Win Me users, Double-click (left mouse) the Control Panel icon.


3. Double-click (left mouse) the Dial-Up Networking Icon (also in the Control Panel with Win Me).




4. Double-click (left mouse) the Make a New Connection icon.




5. Type TNS as the name of the computer you are dialing. Then click (left mouse) Next.




6. Enter the Dial-Up connection phone number for your location. Then click (left mouse) Next.




7. Click (left mouse) Finish. This will create a new icon in your Dial-Up Networking folder called TNS.




(NOTE) If you have Windows ME skip to Step 10.

8. Right Click once on the TNS icon to show the following menu. Left click on Properties at the bottom.




9. Click (left mouse) on the Server Types tab. Under the Advanced Options and Allowed Network Protocals.
make sure that Enable Software Compression & TCP/IP are the only options checked. Uncheck Log on to Network , NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible. Click (left mouse) OK to close the Properties Box.




10. You will now be back at the TNS icon in Dial-Up Networking. Right click on the icon
one more time and click (left mouse) on Create Shortcut. Click (left mouse) Yes when asked
if you want a shortcut placed on the desktop, Then close the Dial-Up Networking
window and you will see the new TNS icon on your desktop.




12. To connect, double-click (left mouse) the TNS icon.



The first time you will need to type in your TNS user name and password. Put a check in
Remember Password if you want windows to remember your password. Click (left mouse) on
the word Connect. you will hear your modem dial.When it connects you will see a box
pop up telling you that you are connected to TNS.




11. When you are connected you will see the flashing modem icon by the clock on your task bar.
At this point you are connected to the Internet and can open your web browser, check your email
or whatever you wish to do.
